This weekend the sun finally decided to show up! We haven’t seen the sun in so long so I promptly threw on my knits and we went for a walk in the park. I always feel so refreshed after going for a walk or hike. Something about being in nature is just so calming and the perfect stress reliever! This time of year is what I affectionately (or maybe not so affectionately! LOL) refer to as “cloud season”. For days or weeks on end the sky will be all different shades of moody gray with no sun in sight. So when the sun does show up you instantly feel lighter and motivated! We were also supposed to wake up to snow on Sunday and that turned out to be a MAJOR BUST. I was hoping I’d have some snowy images to share, but alas mother nature had other plans. I swear this happens every time they say we’re supposed to get snow-I get all excited only to be let down and disappointed! Did you get snow where you live?
I wanted to share pictures of what my Skylights sweater looks like styled with jeans. (I had previously shared what it looked like styled with sweatpants that look like dress pants here.) I’m wearing one of my favorite pair of Mother jeans. Mother brand denim is one of my go to denim brands. (I love that they are proudly made in the USA.) This pair has the most perfect ankle flip detail making them the perfect length to pair with booties. I finished the look off with my favorite year round boots, Blundstone! My clear bubble umbrella is the perfect accessory for rainy weather. The bubble shape means you’re totally covered and the fact that its clear means you can see through it to see where you’re going. This bubble style is especially nice for the city and sidewalks-you don’t feel like you’re going to take someone’s eye out with it!
The oversized nature of this sweater allows it to work well untucked or French tucked. I love a French tuck, but I know not everyone is a fan so I wanted to show how the sweater looks both ways. I think a French tuck helps an oversized sweater look more polished and I like the way it looks, but do what you love! I was dealing with yarn chicken issues so I knit mine as long as I could (about hip length) with the yarn I had, but I think it would be really cute tunic length. You could wear it with the spanx faux leather leggings and boots/sneakers depending on the time of year. Whatever I’m knitting I always envision how I plan on wearing the item and what I plan on wearing it with. Establishing the purpose of the item will help you have a more cohesive, wearable wardrobe.
P.S. If you need some help making it through on this Monday I thought I would share my new obsession; drone footage of far off places set to relaxing music. I really miss traveling so much so these videos have been helping to fill the void. I like to pour a glass of wine or Finger Lakes cider (my favorites are Honeoye and Northern Spy), put one of these on the tv, and knit while I dream of all the places I’d love to go. Here are some of my favorites: Kauai, Iceland, Scotland, and of course the best of with over 10 hours of relaxing footage. Let me know which one is your favorite!
