Birthday Sweater

It’s my birthday! To celebrate I knit this super fun pink bobble sweater! It’s actually a cardigan but I didn’t have enough time to steek it before my birthday. (I’m wearing it backwards in the photos so that you couldn’t see the steek column.) This sweater was so much fun to knit! I knit mine holding a worsted weight yarn and a lace weight yarn held together. I love knitting at this larger gauge because the sweaters knit up quickly and I love the fun chunky texture you get. The pattern design is trendy without being so trendy that it will be out of style. Bobbles are definitely having a moment right now! They’ve been popping up in all kinds of patterns.  (I did make some pattern modifications to the length. See below for my notes.)

This pink bobble sweater turned out exactly like I had hoped! I was so excited when it was complete because I couldn’t wait to wear it!  I knit this bobble sweater specifically to pair with my favorite red midi skirt.  This Tibi red silk full midi skirt was a splurge when I bought it back in 2016.  Since then it has turned into a classic and they are still making it. I love everything about this skirt and it is my idea of the perfect skirt. It’s full, has pockets, and is the perfect length! It definitely is one of my most loved items in my closet! It looks just as beautiful with heels as it does with sneakers.  You are sure to make an entrance when wearing it. I paired it with a punch of leopard! These round toe leopard print wedges are so old they’re practically vintage! They are so comfortable though and the perfect heel height for extended wear. (I’ve linked some similar options below.) My Clare V. fold over leopard print clutch is a staple in my closet as well. I’m not a huge handbag fan and generally prefer not to carry anything at all, but this clutch works beautifully for any occasion. I love a generous sized fold over clutch and think they are so chic. This is one look that I will be repeating over and over.

After a year of wearing nothing but loungewear it felt good to put on my party clothes. It also made me somewhat sad that I wont be able to go out and celebrate this year, but I know that when I am able to it will be all the more sweeter! Be sure to keep an eye on my Instagram this week as I will be posting my “Birthday Giveaway”!

Pattern Modifications:

Followed the body per pattern except I knit the body to 9″ after sleeve split and then knit 1×1 rib for 6cm.

Tubular Bind Off on all ribbing.

Sleeves were knit per pattern except my pick up was 54 stitches and I decreased down to 28 stitches before the 1x ribbing. Ribbing was same as body 6cm.

Wondering how I do my Tubular Bind Off in the round?  I follow these instructions.
